Gus Feuerbacher was born in Hamburg, Germany on November 8, 1878. He came to America around 1886 with his mother, brothers and sister. He lived in Austin until around 1900 when he moved to Dallas to become a machinist. While staying at a boarding house, he met Margaret Mae Todd who was born March 21, 1887 in Groesbeck, Texas. Gus and Margaret married in Dallas on July 23, 1903 and had 10 children. Gus went to work as an apprentice machinist for Continental Gin Company and worked for them for 5 years. He then went to work for Murray Gin Company for 4 years. He also worked for Strath Machine Company and later went to Sutton Steel and Steel. In 1925 he went to the Adolphus Hotel as chief machinist and worked there until 1938 when he retired. In 1941 he was called out of retirement to help train women to be machinists for the war effort. He kept this job until he retired the second time in 1943. Uncle Gus passed away December 16, 1953 in Dallas, Texas and Aunt Maggie passed away December 9, 1966 in Dallas, Texas. To this family 10 children were born.
