Max Emil Feuerbacher was born in Carlsbad, Saxony, Germany on October 18, 1877. He came to America as a small child and was raised in Austin, Texas. Around 1900 he went to Dallas, Texas with his brother Gus and while in Dallas he met Maud Ethel Tuller who was born October 25, 1883 in Carlisle, Arkansas. On July 26, 1901 they were married in Dallas, Texas and lived there until 1907. Max took up a claim in Oklahoma that year, 16 miles north of Gage, Oklahoma and farmed for 6 years. After that time he moved to Shattuck, Oklahoma to educate their children and went into the tire business. He remained in this same business until he retired in 1943. He and his wife planned to retire in California so they sold the tire business and their home in Shattuck, Oklahoma.
In route to California, he was stricken with a fatal heart attack in Roswell, New Mexico and died May 2, 1943. Maud went back to Shattuck, Oklahoma and made her home there until her death May 14, 1974. To this union were born 11 children.
