Otto Max Feuerbacher was born in Dresden, Germany on December 1, 1873. Otto came to America with his mother, brothers and sister in 1886 and made Austin their home. Otto chose not to take up the trade of his father. As a young man he and one of his brothers went to Old Mexico and worked in a silver mine. They were paid off in 'script'. If the 'script' was ever cashed in is unknown. According to the Austin City Directory of 1891-1892, Otto is listed as a laborer living at home.
On September 5, 1896 he married Dina Mueller. Dina was born in Oldenberg, German on November 23, 1873. She came to America with her family around 1890. She was working in the home of Mr. Adolph C. Goeth, a co-owner of the Walter Tips Co., where Otto met Dina. They made Austin their permanent home. Dina was a great homemaker and Otto kept a perfect yard, always working in his garden of vegetables and beautiful flowers.
This family also had their share of tragedy early in their married life, having lost their youngest child at the tender age of one month. Uncle Otto enjoyed fishing and was one of the first owners of a lake cottage on Lake Travis when it was first created.
Uncle Otto died on the job with a heart attack on June 20, 1942 after working for Walter Tips Company for 48 years. Aunt Dina passed away November 17, 1948 in Austin, Texas.
