     Abram Martin b 1642 was born in 1642 in Ireland.^1,2,3 He and Rebecca Bell married in 1674 in Virginia.^4,3

     Martin Family Quarterly, gives information that needs to be verified. It says that Abram Martin was born about 1645 and believed he was the son of John Martin and Maude Marshall and born in Galway, Ireland. He may have married Rebecca Bell in New Kent County, VA and died in VA. Children: 1. (---?---) Martin m Matthew Moore, Sr. 2. John Martin b about 1683, VA and died 25 March 1756, King Wm County, VA 3. James Martin, b 1685, d. 1709 4. William Martin, b 1687, d. 1709 and 5. Samuel Maartin, b 1689. This article in the quarterly also names the family of #2, John Martin and then follows descendants of John's son Thomas Martin who marries Ann Moorman. There is minimum documentation but many names, dates and places.⁵

     Letitia Lewis was born in 1685 in Virginia.^1,2 She and John Martin Gent married in 1700 in Virginia.¹ Letitia died.

     Marriage: Most of the records I find say that Letitia was the daughter of John Lewis and Elizabeth Warner. But others say John Lewis d 1717 married Elizabeth Huntley on 16 june 1675 or 24 May 1677 in Hartford CT and were her parents. Still others say Edward and Mary (Morgan) Lewis.

1. NOT_ John Lewis, Counsillor and Elizabeth Warner-- Letitia was born before their marriage and she is not found on any list of their children. They did have an Elizabeth who married John Boling
2 .NOT_ Edward Lewis & Mary Morgan-- research doesn't prove that relationship. She is not listed on any list of children. After her marriage she was normally known as Letitia Martin.

     Rev Abram Martin (1774-son of Thomas 1st & Mary Suddarth) was born on 28 October 1774 in Albemarle County, Virginia.^1,2 He and Jane Oglesby Tribble married on 2 December 1793 in Albemarle County, Virginia.^3,4 Abram died on 4 August 1846 in Portland, Sumner County, Tennessee, at age 71.^2,1 His will was recorded in October 1846 in Sumner County, Tennessee.⁵

     Abram Martin's will mentions a great grandson, Samuel Welch. I haven't been able to find which of Abram's children Samuel Welch comes from.⁶ On 17 June 1833 Abram Martin was deposed by the Justice of the Peasce in Sumner County, Tennessee as to what he knew of the Revolutionary War services of his brother Pleasant Martin. Abram states that "he has a distinct recollection of hearing his father , brothers and the neighbours all talking about and with his brother, Pleasant Martin, respecting his services in the Old Revolutionary War at the siege of York and my understanding was and is that he the commission of Lueitinant and I have never heard it contradicted that is his being a soldier and Lieutenant."⁷

     George Martin was born in 1762 in Albemarle County, Virginia.¹ George died in 1799 in Locust Grove, Virginia.²

     This George Martin, son of Thomas Martin and Ann Moorman lived his whole life in Virginia. His children are listed on page 3-A of Porcher's book. They never lived in South Carolina.

     Major Thomas Martin 2nd was born in 1752 in Albemarle County, Virginia.¹ He and Susan Ledbetter married.² Thomas died in 1818 in Kentucky.³

     John Martin was born in 1748.¹ He and Elizabeth McGrath Lewis married in 1775.² John died in 1837 in Clark County, Kentucky.³

     An interesting history of Major John Martin (son of Thomas Martin I & Ann Moorman) was in Chapter XXI beginning on page 359 in the 1892 book "A genealogy of the Lewis Family" by William Terrell Lewis. Although some of the conclusions in this book have since been corrected, the Mr. Lewis lived at a time when he was able to talk with grandchildren and even children of Revolutionary soldiers to get these wonderful histories. Text in square brackets [ ] indicate explanatory info by this researcher. It reads in part: PINEAPPLE type from Wm Terrell Lewis's book pages 360 -362.⁴ After the Revolution in 1784 the family moved to Kentucky and farmed in Clark County.⁴

     Pleasant Martin was born on 21 December 1756 in Albemarle County, Virginia.^1,2,3 He and Rebecca Jopling married on 2 October 1775 in Amherst County, Virginia.^4,5 Pleasant died on 16 October 1836 in Tennessee at age 79.⁶

     Letty Martin was born in 1743.¹ She and Benjamin Moore married.¹ Letty died after 1792.²

     After her marriage she was normally known as Letty Moore.¹

     Mildred Martin (dau of Thomas Martin & Ann Moorman) was born in 1741.¹ She and Micajah Clark Jr married circa 1761.¹ Mildred married Jacob Oglesby circa 1780, her second husband.¹ Mildred died in 1827.²

     After her marriage she was normally known as Milley Clark.¹ After her marriage she was normally known as Milley Oglesby.

     Nancy M Martin was born on 1 May 1753.¹ She and Alexander Blain married.²

     After her marriage she was normally known as Nancy Blane.

     Molly Martin was born on 24 May 1766.¹ She and Benjamin Dawson married.²

     After her marriage she was normally known as Molley Dawson.

     Charles Moorman Sr was born in 1684 in Virginia.^1,2 He and Elizabeth Reynolds married in 1704 in Louisa County, Virginia.^2,3 Charles died circa April 1757 in Virginia.^1,4 His will was recorded on 24 May 1757 in Louisa County, Virginia.⁴

     Elizabeth Reynolds was born in 1688 in Louisa County, Virginia.^1,2 She and Charles Moorman Sr married in 1704 in Louisa County, Virginia.^1,3 Elizabeth died in 1765 in Louisa County, Virginia.⁴ Her estate entered probate on 11 May 1765 in Louisa County, Virginia.⁵

     After her marriage she was normally known as Elizabeth Moorman.

     Thomas Moorman 1st was born in England. He and Elizabeth (---?---) Moorman married.

     Elizabeth (---?---) Moorman and Thomas Moorman 1st married.

     Mary Moorman was born on 29 August 1686 in Virginia.¹

     Andrew Moorman was born on 4 November 1689 in Virginia.¹

     Zachariah Moorman was born in 1620 in Isle of Wright, England. He and (---?---) Candler married.

     From Threads of Ancestors pg167: Zachariah Moorman born in Isle of Wight, England 1620. At 19 he joined the British Army and became a captain in Cromwell's Army in the invasion of Ireland. He lived near Belfast for a few years. He married a Miss Candler of Northampton, England. In the year 1669 Zachariah Moorman, his sons Thomas and Charles, a daughter Sally Ann, wife of Micajah Clark, and others sailed from England on the ship Glasgow to Barbadoes, West Indies. By 1670 they were in Nasemond County, Virginia, where Thomas was a vestryman. From there they moved to Green Springs, Louisa County, VA. Thomas Moorman married Elizabeth (---?---). The family were active Quakers being mentioned in Quaker Meeting Books in Virginia. Their children: 1. Charles 1684-1756, married Elizabeth Reynolds, daughter of Christopher Reynolds, born about 1690, 2. Mary, born August 29, 1686 and 3. Andrew born November 4, 1689........Charles and Elizabeth settled near Green Springs where he was Justice of the Peace.

     (---?---) Candler's birthdate is unknown. She and Zachariah Moorman married.
